I am not a fan of early wake up calls. But, I do make an exception when it comes to new adventures and knowing that a relaxing resort staycation awaits me. Come 6 o’clock in the morning when my husband and I left Bangkok by train. It may not be the most convenient nor the most comfortable means to travel across the border to Siem but, hey, adventure calls!
Our arrival at Tresor d’Angkor Suite has been very much anticipated after going through a tedious process at the Bangkok-Siem Reap immigration. Located on the leafy tropical outskirts of Siem Reap, Tresor d’Angkor Suite is conveniently located near Angkor Wat, the Siem Reap International Airport and Pub Street without hustle and bustle.
We were received warmly by the resident manager, Kim, and escorted to the receiving area where our welcome drinks were waiting. Not long after, we headed over to our suite. It was located right across the indulging swimming pool. We couldn’t wait to jump in!
We were impressed by the size of our entire suite, it’s enormous. We definitely loved our king sized bed packed with comfortable pillows. We had a mini fridge with some drinks and tropical fruits. The ensuite bathroom had a separate toilet, shower, and bathtub with toiletries provided.
Traditional Khmer style blends perfectly with chic elements of contemporary furnishings.
Tired from our border crossing adventures, we took advantage of the in-house spa treatment to soothe our weary bodies. We loved the full hour of traditional Khmer massage. Given clothed and without oil, this experience involved pressure point massage using thumbs, hands, arms, knees, and feet, as well as stretching movements.
One of the greatest highlights of our stay was dining every day at the Tresor Cafe, the hotel’s in-house restaurant. There were exquisite fine dining options that serve the best of both western and oriental delicacies especially Khmer cuisines.
We had all our meals at Tresor Cafe. We never had to repeat any dish but the mango salad was haunting us, in a positive way. My husband is just raving about so, I also gave it try. It was magical! Rich and flavor and subtly spicy but not too overwhelming in the mouth. It is a great appetizer. I highly recommend for you to try.
In fact, we loved the food so much that we had organized a cooking class with the in-house chef to learn some recipes. We had so much fun during the class and we even got to eat our own cooking.
While were in Siem Reap, we had the pleasure to watch a traditional Khmer dance which was arranged by the hotel. From pick up to drop off, everything went smoothly. We had one of the best seats in the show.
Two nights were not enough to enjoy this magical paradise. The staff’s consistent top-notch service is one the special features of Tresor d’Angkor Suite. We can’t wait to come back!
