In all of my travels around this beautiful world, one of the most haunting sights I encountered was the sun slowly rising over the intricate sculpted stone pagodas of the temples at Angkor Wat. The temples of Angkor are a truly global marvel and one of the most coveted religious sites on the globe. A fundamental piece of any Cambodia itinerary, Angkor Wat enraptures guests with its stunning magnificence and unfathomably saved social legacy.
The bus operator promised a 6-hour land travel from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. Indeed, our bus arrived after 6 hours somewhere in the bustling Phnom Penh surrounded by intriguing markets, charming cafes, and busy street food scenes. I hailed a mototaxi to get to my palatial hotel in one of the prime locations in Phnom Penh. Half an hour and a couple of wrong turns later, I arrived at The Pavilion Hotel.
I am not a fan of early wake up calls. But, I do make an exception when it comes to new adventures and knowing that a relaxing resort staycation awaits me. Come 6 o’clock in the morning when my husband and I left Bangkok by train. It may not be the most convenient nor the most comfortable means to travel across the border to Siem but, hey, adventure calls!
