The earth laughs in flowers

Here we are, the final week of lockdown in New Zealand. To be honest, three weeks did not seem too long especially if you keep yourself busy with different activities and well, some work. We are lucky to be locked down in the South Island, New Zealand where our accommodation is smacked down along Lake Te Anau with the dramatic landscapes of Fiordland National Park on the other end.

Today, I took the opportunity to wake up early and start the day right, as everyday should be. My husband was still catching up with the world news while I hurriedly geared up for the road.

Though the sun is shining, the cold breeze from the snowy mountains kept me chilly. Nevertheless, it was still enjoyable. My greatest enemy was ever so present – the wind. I prefer not to bike against strong winds yet today, somehow I held a pinch of courage to carry on regardless.

Bike ride

A few pedals away from our humble abode, I stumbled upon a small roadside garden that was too beautiful to miss. I slowed down to let my eyes feast on its beauty but I thought I had stop to snap some pictures.

The garden was beautifully curated and well taken care of despite that the resort was closed. It was filled with different species and colors of dahlia and roses. It was truly captivating that I had to spend a couple of minutes to just stare at them. I was smiling. It was indeed great way to start the day!

Now, if you find yourself down, depressed, anxious or any feeling of negativity, remind yourself that just like a flower, it doesn’t compete with the flower next to it. It just blooms.  Don’t fret if you feel like life is not what you expect it to be right now. Your glory moment is yet to come. Right now, we are all just trying to get through this difficult time, no judgment, no criticism. One step at a time.

Smile.

You are alive and well.

Positivity goes a long way. Be the light in this dark time. Namaste!
