Timeless tranquility at The Pavilion Hotel

Discover serenity at The Pavilion Hotel in Phnom Penh. Spacious rooms, complimentary massage, and a central location near the Royal Palace.

The bus operator promised a 6-hour land travel from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia.

Indeed, our bus arrived after 6 hours somewhere in the bustling Phnom Penh surrounded by intriguing markets, charming cafes, and busy street food scenes.

I hailed a mototaxi to get to my palatial hotel in one of the prime locations in Phnom Penh.

Half an hour and a couple of wrong turns later, I arrived at The Pavilion Hotel.

The Pavilion Hotel is an oasis

The Pavilion Entrance

Walking towards the reception immediately transports me into a tranquil oasis amongst the clamor of Phnom Penh.

The Pavilion boasts unique heritage villas, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and four private plunge pools, all set up in a lush compound protected by high walls, preserving its intimacy.

The Reception Villa was built by Queen Kossamak, King Sihanouk’s mother, in the mid-20s.

Living here brought her closer to the Royal Pagoda, where she often liked to pray. The architecture is an original combination of Khmer and French colonial styles.

Check-in and stunning room

The check-in went smoothly and I was then escorted to my room.

The room is very spacious and well-appointed. I had an inviting four-poster bed fitted with squeaky clean sheets and fluffy pillows.

The stunning furniture perfectly blends with the theme of the room.

I even had an iPod dock that doubles as an alarm.

The Pavilion hotel Bed

The ensuite bathroom included shower facilities, large towels, vanity mirror and a hairdryer.

To my surprise, I received a bag with organic bathroom essentials which I was happy to take with me on my next travels.

The Pavilion Bathroom

At the time of my stay, there was limited time offer of a complimentary 25-minute massage which was a perfect reward after a very long day of travel.

The Pavilion Spa

It might be too short but The Pavilion has a full list of massage varieties that you can take afterwards for a reasonable price.

Breakfast in bed

Breakfasts were always something I look forward to. Guests have options to order breakfast in bed or dine by the pool.

On the days I stayed here, I was extremely happy about the options for breakfast in bed.

I could order as much as I want for the time specified. It’s perfect for guests like me who can’t be bothered to get up early and join the breakfast buffet.

One of the main highlights of this hotel is its central location, just a few steps from the Royal Palace and facing Wat Botum, the Royal Pagoda.

I am glad that I was able to explore the historic area of Phnom Penh and just head back to my room when I feel tired or lazy for the day. 🙂
