Get to know Chattanooga with these RV ideas

Chattanooga is the fourth-largest city in Tennessee, and with a rich history and plenty of natural beauty, it’s definitely a place you should visit with the entire family. One of the best ways to experience Chattanooga is to stay in an RV! If you don’t have one, you can still get the RV experience by renting one from Outdoorsy. Here are just a few of the amazing things you can do in Chattanooga that will get you acquainted with the natural beauty in the area.

Stay at Raccoon Mountain

If you’re traveling in an RV, you just have to make Raccoon Mountain your home base. It’s located within city limits, so it provides you with easy access to everything Chattanooga has to offer. You and your family get to camp in a natural area that makes you feel like you aren’t in the city at all.

Raccoon Mountain is not your normal campground. It features natural splendor and amenities that you won’t find anywhere else:

• Explore the 5 1/2 miles of mapped passageways in the caves
• Take a 45-minute Crystal Palace tour of the caves
• Pan for gemstones
• Ride a go-kart
• Soak in the outdoor saltwater pool
• Play a game of shuffleboard

Visit Lookout Mountain

When staying in an RV in Chattanooga, make time to visit Lookout Mountain.

Located along the southern border of Tennessee, visiting Lookout Mountain is undeniably one of the best things to do in the area. Its high lookout point means you get to see the mountain in all its glory, as well as the Chattanooga Valley in all its entirety.

Make sure you stop by Ruby Falls. As the deepest commercial cave system in the country, and sporting the largest American underground waterfall, it’s a must-see.

Make a Pitstop at Coolidge Park

Coolidge Park is a good compromise between nature and city life, making it a quick stop if you want a little urban exposure on your vacation.

The park features open spaces with beautiful views of the Tennessee river. Ride the 100-year old carousel, walk the Riverwalk, and make sure you check out the largest pedestrian bridge in the world.

Visit the Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center

If you’re traveling with little ones, make sure you plan to visit the Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center.

Located on 317 acres, you can learn about many different kinds of plants and animals. Meander through meadows and mountain slopes, gaze in wonder at the butterfly garden, and let the kids burn off some steam in one of the play areas.

If you’re looking for a bit more adventure while you’re at the Arboretum, try renting a canoe. You can also watch a naturalist feed a red wolf as you learn about this endangered species.

There’s no denying that traveling in an RV makes for a memorable vacation experience, but visiting these places will make your time off even more memorable. Just pack your bags, rent an RV, and hit the road!
