Serene privacy at Kuta Lagoon Resort

Escape to paradise at Kuta Lagoon Resort. Immerse in tranquil surroundings and enjoy a perfect blend of comfort and serenity.

After months of contemplating, Olivier and I has finally decided to visit Bali as our first holiday destination as a married couple. People have been raving about Bali ever since I can remember so like the saying goes… It’s better to see something once than hear about it a thousand times. So, Bali it is! 🙂

After a simple, intimate wedding celebration in my island home of Bantayan, we were off to Bali for our honeymoon. We can’t contain our excitement knowing that our first home in Bali is a private pool villa. We are backpackers by heart who would be happy to stay in a spartan room any day but for the honeymoon, Olivier and I see eye to eye that it’s ok to take something luxurious this time.

Arriving at Kuta Lagoon Resort

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a humble fellow named Widi from Kuta Lagoon Resort. He has been waiting patiently for over half an hour as we deplaned a little late and the immigration queue was quite long. He then drove us down to Legian where our private pool villa awaited.

A spacious entrance led further back, away from the roaming and bustling streets of Legian. We arrived through the main gates that took us to the semi open entry foyer and reception area filled with contemporary art. We received a very pleasant welcome from the reception staff and were given a tour of the entire resort.

After the resort tour, Widi escorted us towards our private pool villa and explained the facilities and what not.

As soon as he opened the doors to our villa, we were whisked away by the charming king sized four-poster bed with love swans with rose petals and plumeria.

Our bedroom is air-conditioned, fitted with TV, minibar, safe, tea-coffee making facilities and plenty of drawer spaces.

I instantly noticed the feeble lights. I guess the private pool villas were made to be intimate so the lights are quite dimmed. This wasn’t a big issue after all because we can always open the curtains to let the natural light in. WiFi can be a bummer sometimes but then, it’s all throughout Bali so we can’t really blame the resort for that.

Ensuite bathroom comes with a separate shower and outside bathtub. There is also a luggage room with plenty of wardrobe space for all our bags and clothes.

It was incredibly spacious and tastefully decorated.

Out back was our private outdoor bath and garden with place to hang towel or clothes. Down the side of the villa is a small, gorgeous garden with private outdoor shower and steps leading down to the our private pool. Through the glass door is a bright sun room slash kitchenette, perfect place to enjoy a delicious breakfast or a few bintangs.

The open-air private pool is high-walled, decent in size and depth which is great for cooling off and doing some laps. I lost count of how many times this pool saved our arses from the scorching Bali heat. A short (or long) break in the afternoon is a must considering this island’s high humidity.

Breakfast at Kuta Lagoon Resort was also amazing.

Lagoon Cafe have a wide range of options from Western to Asian food. Olivier enjoyed his typical European breakfast of bread and fruits while I indulged myself with Asian cuisines.

The staff throughout the resort were delightfully friendly and are clearly briefed to make your stay as relaxed as possible. They have always greeted us with that warm Balinese smile and demeanor.

I could say that the location has to be one of the highlight. Located in Legian, Kuta Lagoon Resort is slightly tucked away so you can retreat but right in the action. It is easy to go to the beach during the day and walk around the shops and markets but not too near to bother you on wee hours. Neighbor to Seminyak, so you can always mix it up and go here for shopping and dinner and to Kuta if you want experience the Bali nightlife.

Overall, it was truly an incredible stay at Kuta Lagoon Resort. The private pool villa would be ideally suited to honeymooners and those seeking a very private haven. Olivier and I were both sad to leave. 🙁 Hope to see you again Kuta Lagoon Resort!
